Home and Garden Decor Trends for 2025

Posted by Cocoyard Garden Supply on

Hold onto your throw pillows, folks. 2025 is serving up some serious inspiration for your home and garden! This year, we’re seeing spaces that are personal and inviting—and equipped with just the right things for modern living. The lines between the indoors and outdoors are blurring as natural materials make their way in. Colors are getting as bold—or as muted—as you wish them to be. And we’re realizing true beauty actually lies in imperfection.

To learn all about the home and garden decor trends for 2025, keep reading! We’ve put together the top trends for the new year, sure to appeal to serious decorators and someone just dabbling in trends alike 😊

Biophilic Design

Nature is taking the wheel in 2025. Biophilic design—aka the love child of nature and architecture—is going to be seen across homes this year. Potted plants have been a homeowner’s favorite, but this year, nature is coming in using BIG ways. Like a fully fledged plant stand filled with your favorite greenery right within your living room.

Better yet, a living wall—basically a vertical garden on one wall of your space—or indoor trees (yes, actual living trees!) in your interior.

Sustainable Materials

Sustainability has been around for quite a bit, but this year, we’re seeing plenty of innovation. We’re not sticking to the bamboo and reclaimed wood pieces only. There’s so much more to eco-friendly design!

Case in point: Mycelium. This is a biodegradable material made from fungal spores, and brands like Mycelium Muse are taking the initiative of using it for their products. Another interesting idea is hemp—a plant that quickly grows and is hence biodegradable. Savvy Rest uses certified organic fabrics for their upholstery, including hemp.

Colorful Bathroom Suites

The bathrooms are getting an upgrade. And, no, we don’t mean that neutral, spa-like feel. We’re seeing neutral sanitaryware being swapped for colorful bathroom fittings. These can be in retro-inspired shades of green, brown, blue, and pink. We’re also seeing a rise in teal, lilac, and mint. Together, these color combinations mean 2025 expects the modernization of vintage hues. Hand in hand go sleek designs, adding modernism to a space that could otherwise feel traditional.

Livable Space Outdoors

2025 sees bringing the outdoors in, but it applies vice versa, too! This means homes will create an indoor area outdoors. So, you can expect lounges, dining areas, and spaces for entertainment in the backyard. You can also opt for a full-fledged outdoor kitchen if you’re hoping to minimize the back-and-forth trips as you entertain.

One important aspect of this is blurring the lines between your interior and exterior. You can achieve this through large floor-to-ceiling windows paired with minimal draperies. This gives you views of the great outdoors even when inside.

Richly Detailed Wallpaper

Patterned wallpapers are back—and with a bang! You can expect Victorian-inspired botanical prints, chinoiserie patterns, and detailed maps. We’re also anticipating more interest in nostalgic and intricately detailed wall coverings. The type that can add warmth and personality to the space. One great idea is using historical patterns in modern interiors; this adds a stunning contrast.

The Wabi-Sabi Style

Because it’s perfectly imperfect 😉 Wabi-sabi is all about finding elegance in the flawed, and that’s what we’ll be celebrating in 2025. Cracked ceramics, weathered wood, and slightly wonky DIY decor are totally in.

For gardeners, this means letting nature do its thing. Wild, untamed flower beds and asymmetrical landscaping are taking over. You can think of this as more “secret garden” and less “manicured lawn”—see more below.

Embracing the Wilderness

Gardens in 2025 are adopting a wilder and less structured aesthetic. They’re moving away from rigid designs and give you more room to play with naturalistic planting schemes with endless colors, textures, and heights.

You can expect to see informal borders—the kind that are reminiscent of untamed landscapes. We love how this trend will increase biodiversity and make gardening more achievable if you’ve got a busy lifestyle. When there’s a garden outdoors, you will be encouraged to spend more time around greenery (without having to walk to a nearby park).

Texture Overload

Velvet, rattan, jute, and stone—2025 is THE year for tactile decor. We’d like to call this furniture and accessories that practically beg to be touched. Velvet sofas in jewel tones? Check. Rattan light fixtures? Double check. The goal is to create spaces that feel as good as they look.

In the garden, textured pots and planters are all the rage. From terracotta with hand-etched designs to rustic stone, these pieces sure add character.

Curved Forms

Curves were a hit in 2024, and are continuing to be a big news in 2025. This is especially true for arches. Homes will add these through curved seating (like an organically shaped sofa), while arches will be seen in doorways and architectural features. In the bedroom, headboards will increasingly use arches. These will help create fluidity in the interior and soothe the eye.

Fully Integrated Tech

Tech-driven convenience has rapidly been rising in popularity. But 2025 is seeing more innovation in this. For example, you’ve probably already tried “Hi Siri, turn on the lights”. But did you know the same will now be automatically done—with added intelligence? Automated systems will be able to monitor your light usage and temperature preferences, and will automatically adjust based on these. This also helps save energy.

Moreover, tech will be all the more integrated into spaces. That is to say, you won’t be able to notice any gadgets or devices; they will seamlessly integrate into your home.

Bold and Earthy Palettes

2025 is saying goodbye to the bland and hello to the bold. Deep terracotta, ochre, and rich emerald are making their way onto walls, furniture, and even ceilings (yes, ceiling paint is a thing now). These earthy tones don’t just look great—they create a grounded vibe.

This is also a good time to have a look at the colors of the year (2025) announced by different brands—and incorporate your favorites into your home:

Pantone—Mocha Mousse (a warm and rich brown inspired by coffee)

Benjamin Moore—Cinnamon Slate (a mix of plum and brown)

Glidden—Purple Basil (a dramatic blend of red and blue)

       Valspar—Encore (an atmospheric blue)

Dunn-Edwards—Caramelized (a warm and earthy neutral)

Dutch Boy Paints—Mapped Blue (a gentle neutral blue)

Krylon—Hammered Black (with a textured finish)

The best part about the announced colors is that you can find light and neutral hues as well as bold ones for the perfect palette.

For the garden, think colorful blooms paired with lush greenery. Lavender and wildflower gardens are trending for their low-maintenance beauty and pollinator appeal. Who knew saving the bees could look so chic.

Personalization—and Lots of It

Trends sure are fun, but, let’s face it: Beyond everything, your home and garden should be you. It can be the biophilic design or bold colors. But if you just prefer your minimal style with a few accessories on a floating shelf (see below for our top pick)—why not? In fact, the biggest trend for 2025 is individuality.

So, mix it; match it; and make it your own. If anyone asks why you have a cactus sitting on a velvet chair next to a weathered wood table—just tell them it’s 2025, and you’re nailing it 😉
